The ASCS CanWest would like to announce on behalf of Bridge County Raceway and several Lethbridge businesses the return of 360 Sprint car racing to Western Canada’s fastest clay oval. After a long absence, this highly anticipated event has become a reality and race fans can mark Saturday July 18th on the calendar to be at Bridge County Raceway for the return of the “Battle at Bridge County”.
“First and foremost we need to thank James and Kathy Hadnagy for allowing this race to take place”, states ASCS CanWest Director William Gold, “Also local race veteran and BCR supporter Don Miller and Elrich Tire really stepped up to make this show a reality”. Gold continues, “It has been a long haul to get all this together and without the efforts of those mentioned this race would still be in the planning stages”.
New for the fans of Sprint car racing in Southern Alberta will be the ASCS racing program that the teams of the ASCS CanWest adhere to. The ASCS rules package supports the largest group of open wheel racing in North America. Founded in 1992, the American Sprint Car Series now sanctions well over 200 nights of racing annually throughout the United States and Canada with its National Tour and over a dozen Regional circuits. Nearly 1,000 different drivers competed in at least one ASCS event over the course of the 2008 season.
This race at BCR compliments an already exciting July for the racers of the ASCS CanWest division, adding to the major events list that includes the Prairie Dirt Weekend in Winnipeg & Swift Current as well as the 55th running of the Gold Cup in Edmonton.
The CanWest racers will be running an Alberta double header for the Bridge County Raceway event which includes a Friday night showdown at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton then down south to once again "Battle at Bridge County".
